Hogue; “No on Prop 93!”

January 13th, 2008

There is an important message to send, and we have little time to lose in getting out the message to voters. We the voters must stop Proposition 93 on the February Presidential Primary ballot.

Titled “Limits on Legislators’ Term in Office”, Prop 93 is easily the most deceptive ballot measure Californians have faced in a generation. While it’s described as ‘term limits reduction’, what it would really do is give the current crop of free-spending, big-government lawmakers even more time in office.

Prop 93 was crafted by the same lawmakers who moved California’s Presidential Primary from June to February, at the cost of millions of dollars for the added election. The excuse for moving up the election was that California would have more say in the selecting the Presidential candidates.

Well, have you seen the Presidential candidates, or even their campaign workers knocking on doors in your neighborhood? The truth is, during a period of record budget deficits created by the current lawmakers in Sacramento, we now get to pay for an expensive, extra February election, an election forced upon us by the same legislative ‘fat cats’ who brought us the deficit in the first place – Assembly Speaker Fabian Nunez and Senate President Don Perata.

So if Prop 93 passes, these same ‘Capitol Fat Cats’ will have time to file re-election papers and get on the ballot in time for California’s real primary come June.

This deceptive labeling was no accident. All ballot measures are submitted to the Attorney General, who has final say on each ballot measure “title and summary” – The name and short descriptive that appears on the ballot and the voting materials we receive before each election.

Attorney General (and Democrat loyalist) Jerry Brown went right along with the Prop 93 bunch, agreeing to call it a term limits reduction. Why? Because Brown and his cronies Nunez and Perata know the people who are likely to turn out and vote in California don’t trust the legislature, and know that political corruption goes hand-in-hand with too much time in office.

So, when you read voters “Limits on Legislators” on your sample ballot and in the voting booth, don’t fill in that “YES” box, don’t do it, it’s a trick.

Preying upon the voter’s negative attitude toward the legislature is the lawmakers’ strategy, and it’s working. Although the latest Prop 93 polls show support for the measure is slipping, a majority of conservative voters still support it. This is why I’m releasing this statement: We must STOP PROP 93 in February, or we’ll have more budget deficits with “raise the taxes solutions” in the near future.

PROP 93 is a tiny reduction in terms limits, but it’s also a huge and immediate reward for the irresponsible crowd who currently runs the state capitol. And PROP 93 is so poorly written, it could even allow former Assembly Speaker Willie Brown to run for another three terms in office.

Tell a friend, a co-worker, and a fellow church member that we must be sensible, we all want a better legislature, but this is not the way to go about it. We must STOP PROP 93 in February. Just say NO to 93!

Hogue Supports Affordable Health Care

January 9th, 2008

Affordable Healthcare

As your Assemblyman, I will work hard to make healthcare affordable. What’s being lost in the healthcare debate is why America leads the world in medical technology. That’s because in America, healthcare is a market-based system. As everyone knows, if you want to make something better, the competition and free market will do it best.

Nobody’s ever turned to the Department of Motor Vehicles for guidelines on customer service, and only a fool thinks the government can fix something that’s not really broken. We need affordable, accessible healthcare, not a state-run program that creates a demand for more tax dollars while its ‘end-game’ threatens to ration healthcare. Remember, when it comes to the healthcare debate, ‘conservatives’ have the healthy solutions; not the liberals, nor the muckraking media celebrities.

Traditional Marriage without the Attacks

December 28th, 2007

Traditional Marriage

As your Assemblyman, I will defend and protect the institution of marriage. Marriage is ‘one man’ and ‘one woman’ at ‘one time’.

One must understand that Government does have a ‘say’ as to who shall be recognized as married, and those couples who cannot.

It will be my duty as an elected representative to defend California’s support of ‘Proposition 22’, by voting no on every piece of legislation that attempts to redefine your vote, or incorporate any other form of marriage than what is traditionally describes as one man and one woman.

At the same time I will defend everyone’s rights as they relate to human rights, civil rights and our constitutional rights.

Again, I personally believe in marriage, it is a specific, exclusive relationship (covenant) that benefits culture, community and children, but it should not be used as a wedge issue by either side of the political isle. It’s a fact of civic life, not a weapon to be tossed.

Hogue to Contain Rogue Eminent Domain Practices

December 28th, 2007

Protected Property Rights

As your Assemblyman, I will protect your property from the growing abuse by our local, and state government’s distortion of eminent domain.

Citizens, non-profit organizations and religious organizations have a right to their own property. Government must be stopped in fabricating eminent domain arguments to create ‘land grab’ opportunities for budgetary tax revenues.

It is illegal, commonly unethical and an unconstitutional misrepresentation of eminent domain. No more abuse as it relates to eminent domain, I will work hard in protecting your property rights. A right is a right, and government needs to protect our rights over producing revenue for ‘red lettered’ budgets.

Easier Commutes and Traffic for District 4

December 28th, 2007

Easier Commutes and Traffic Solutions

As your Assemblyman, I will implement, as well as research, means to reduce our district traffic problems and growing commute times. Snarled traffic steals from our private lives; individuals, families and businesses pay taxes for the transportation infrastructure. It is the government’s responsibility to deliver a smoother daily commute (infrastructure is goverment’s responsibility).

I want to represent “our frustration” with traffic inside of the district. And where it makes sense, I will support new and additional public transportation.

It’s time for action, campaign promises are cheap, sophomoric and rhetorical; we ‘need’ better road, more roads and easier commutes. I want the opportunity to work with Federal, State and Local leaders to oersee the growing areas of the district get the job done right. Give me this opportunity come June 2008.

Hogue Roseville Fund Raiser a Huge Success

December 6th, 2007

Medved called Hogue, “A Contemporary, Conservative Republican Leader for California’s Fourth District…”

“When you find your passion, you discover your purpose,” stated Eric Hogue.

For seven years he woke up the Capitol on morning radio, in 2003 lead a historic recall of Governor Davis, and daily communicated the conservative, Republican ideals for the people of Northern California from Sacramento.

On Thursday, November 29th, over ‘one-hundred’ friends and grassroots supporters witnessed Hogue ‘launch’ his campaign for State Assembly, District 4, inside of a filled Roseville’s Sun City Timber Creek Lodge.

The exuberant crowd thoroughly enjoyed Eric’s inaugural ‘stump speech’.

As Hogue presented his ‘clear positions’ related to taxation, immigration, eminent domain abuse, education and marriage, he expressed his determination to bring a loud, conservative “voice” back into the State Capitol and Sacramento’s political conversation.

Eric Hogue’s first official political presentation drew a standing ovation, as numerous attendees mentioned their new found inspiration for the future of the Republican Party with leaders who represent clear substance and confidence that Eric Hogue has displayed for years.

After the up-start candidate inspired those in attendance, Hogue introduced featured speaker Michael Medved to the campaign microphone. The nationally syndicated talk show host delivered his familiar political themes heard on his daily radio show, then spinning those themes into a convincing, full-fledge endorsement of Eric Hogue for State Assembly.

Medved called Hogue, “a contemporary, conservative Republican leader for California’s fourth district, one who can demand attention inside of a minority party position, as well as stimulate the voter who is looking for a transparent leader who can build toward the future.”

As a bonus, Medved also presented new insights on the Presidential campaigns, and our own California political situation. Michael demonstrated – once again – his brilliance as a political analyst and cultural observer, all the more reason that Medved’s endorsement of Eric Hogue is a powerful development for the constituents of District 4.

The first major fund raising event for “Eric Hogue for Assembly” was a huge success. Said Hogue, “I can’t thank you enough; Tammy and I are blessed by your love and encouragement. I personally want to express my gratitude to the tireless volunteers, our growing list of supporters and the contributors of the campaign; I’m very excited about the New Year.”

Returning A Voice to Sacramento

November 24th, 2007

This Assembly District is a leadership District. AD4 “deserves” a proud conservative voice on the issues that really matter for today’s citizens of California. What you want, and have come to expect from the AD4 Elected is a “voice” that speaks loudly on these issues…

On our Governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger; yes, there is much in reference to the recall that we never saw developing. Yet I’m still very proud of my role “Father of the Recall”, along with The People’s Advocate Director, Ted Costa.Don’t let your thunder be stolen by an absolutists attitude here, the recall was, and is a success. An entire generation got to experience, first hand, how powerful we the people can be when we come together and work on a common goal. We felt the power of political engagement, and what we did once, we can do once again if need be.

Let’s remember, the recall produced  a Governor who immediately removed the “Car Tax”. An administration that vetoed same sex marriage, and continues to do so every time the bill crosses his desk. A Governor who reformed worker’s compensation and stemmed the tide of successful people – the taxpayers of the state – who were being forced to leave California.

Granted…not everything is the way we want it, but the remnants of the recall are not complete. We learned a few lesson and are wiser for the journey. The completion of the recall is before us, now is not the time to grow apathetic.

As my friend Jon Coupal, of Howard Jarvis Tax Payers Association, pointed out just the other day, it could have been a lot worse. Read my lips: “To this day, No New Taxes”. We have moved forward, albeit a short distance, but forward we go in-spite of the naysayers.

On Immigration: We need to focus on immigration, not the immigrant!

Let’s stop attacking people and start attacking the problems with a three prong solution: a “real physical barrier to control our borders”, a qualified guest worker program that leads to authentic citizenship only for those who follow the rules, and on the state level – keep pushing the federal government to pay back the state for the cost of housing illegal immigrant prison inmates.

While we’re at it, it’s time to pressure California cities like San Francisco and Los Angeles, who throw out the welcome mat that’s drawing more and more people here with the promise of a “hand out” and not a helping hand.

Finally, let’s stop blaming America for being the country these people want to come to live, work and raise their families. It is the best country in the world and we are obligated to share it with others who are looking for her shelter and blessed origins legally.

On Health Care, what’s being lost in the health care debate is why America leads the world in medical technology. That’s because in America, Health Care is a market-based system.

As everyone here knows, if you want to make something better, the competition and free market will do it best. No-body’s ever turned to the Department of Motor Vehicles for guidelines on customer service, and only a fool thinks the government can fix something that’s not really broken.

We need affordable, accessible health care, not a state-run program that creates a demand for more tax dollars while its ‘end-game’ threatens to ration care.

Remember, when it comes to Health Care, ‘conservatives’ have the healthy solutions; not the liberals nor the muckraking media celebrities.

On marriage, the institution IS one man, and one woman, one at a time. I have yet to hear how an “anything goes” attitude is good for society. Let me make this clear, “Government DOES has a role in deciding who gets to marry who!”

Think for a minute, and follow me on this. Every argument in favor of gay marriage can also be applied to those who favor incest and polygamy. As a society, we (the people, citizens and voters) get to draw the line. As for history, the people of California have spoken. Why change what works?

On our education system, the Governor says he wants next year to be the year for education reform. Well Governor, considering the vested interests in Sacramento today, good luck with that.

Everybody in the “education community,” as they call themselves, is making sure they get their piece of the pie. Everybody, that is, except the children, the students.

We are failing our children by failing to give them good schools full of great teachers. And I support teachers, it is an under-paid, under-appreciated career of great care. I especially support great teachers, and no real education reform will take place in California until we can reward the great teachers, and get rid of the ones who are just mailing it in.

As far as the ideal, when we get back to individual achievement, and this includes individual teacher achievement, then education wins in California.

On the “Sanctity of life”, I’m pro-life and I’m proud to say I’m pro-stem cell. Have you been reading the news? Look at the research that came out on non-embryonic stems cells. Stem cells taken from skin cells are producing the desired results. No more need to kill human embryos, human babies, to save and improve lives.

But in this brave new world of genetic research, we will need leaders who will stay vigilant. We don’t need any designer babies except those already being made by the “Great Designer” Himself.

On the environment; you can go ahead and label me a ‘creation care’ Republican.

As far as Al Gore and the United Nations and their Global Warming fear tactics, well I’ve had enough already. Haven’t you?

The great “carbon boogey-man” is never going to go away, not as long as government sees it as the next big excuse to tax us and regulate us.

Al Gore and his crowd won’t be happy until they turn the United States into Cuba, where rusted heaps of automobiles are pulled by horses, and the fields are tilled by oxen, and the last superpower is just another province in their one world-government.

Don’t get me wrong here, I pick up litter, I turn off lights and conserve water; and yes, let’s develop alternate fuels and energy independence. Let’s conserve and protect the environment and the economy with common sense stewardship. No more fear-mongering.

On those taxes, they are the dividing line between the public sector and the private sector. When taxes get bigger, the government gets bigger and the private sector, you know (you and me); we end up paying for it all.

The government has enough of our money now, it is time for government to be held under the microscope and for leadership to look closely as to how government can squander so much revenue.

Kudos to State Senator Jeff Denham, who researched the state to find that we (not the government, it’s our money) own golf courses, retreat lodges and vacation property that only the liberal elite can enjoy.

Now, because Senator Denham has done his research and exposed the government cash vaccum, he faces a recall in the State Senate. Imagne, here is an elected Senator who voted no on the budget and exposed government waist and “He” faces a recall from the majority party leadership.

Time for the ‘tipping of the tea bags’ in Sacramento!

Listen: Giving the government a tax increase is like giving your ‘brother-in-law’ a hundreds bucks so he can gas up his sports car and take his new girlfriend out on an expensive date. All the while, YOU and the family get to enjoy ‘Hamburger Helper’ and old VHS movie on your Television set.

It’s also like your brother in law, in that the government will never be too ashamed to come back and hit you up again…and again…and again. Time for more communicators inside of the “Belly of the Beast” we call The Capitol.

I ask you, when was the last time we had a voice inside of the Capitol who could demand attention on these issues?

Someone who can look into the lens of a camera, speak into the sensors of a microphone and clearly articulate the conservative frustration with California’s government ideology?

It’s time to look past the “backbenchers” and the “wall flowers” in the legislature. I want to be known as your voice, a “communicator” on the issues that matter to all of us the most. I could care less about pets, cigarette smoking and nanny government regulations.

We once had a ‘Great Communicator’ as the Governor in that downtown Capitol, and he sure made a difference for the party, the people and the nation. I’m tired of the Democrats having all of the attention, I say we get back to communicating with “Purpose and Passion” on the ideals, issues and legislation that makes a difference for individuals, families and the masses of this great state.

Support my campaign to be your next State Assemblyman and I will put my voice back into Sacramento’s debate, an inclusive, contemporary, conservative voice that represents moral, ethical and intelligent leadership for District 4 and the Golden State of California.

This is why I’m running, and this is why I want your vote and financial support for the race ahead, “Thank you!”

Lower Taxes, Raise Hearts of Compassion

November 17th, 2007

Ask yourself; would you rather ‘care for others’ in dire situations through ‘mandated taxes by government’, or ‘encouragement of individual generosity’?

For the past year, “The Hogue Hut”, (my embraced family nickname) has been associated with numerous campaigns of relief, mission and compassion.

This past September I traveled to Cambodia to meet with individuals associated with The Bible League, a Christian organization that is bringing rebirth to Cambodia and SE Asia.

As I walked the war torn – poverty stricken and Pol Pot destroyed jungle think of this beautiful SE Asian territory – I quickly fell in love with these wonderful people and their understanding of a selfless society of compassion toward others.

Upon returning home to our ‘God blessed country’, I helped raised $67,000 for these faith-filled people in SE Asian and Combodian. The League received the donations and promptly purchased over 19,000 Bibles (at $4 per Bible) as a blue print for liberty, discipline and instruction for the future generations of Cambodia.

Opportunity presented itself again last week, as I spent two days in San Francisco working for the “50-year-old mission” called City Team. We raised over $17,000 in two days for food, clothing, shelter and the vast array of branch educational, employment and detoxification programs related with this great organization.

No government intervention here, $17,000 for this Thanksgiving provides over 10,000 meals for the homeless as well as accountable shelter, personal hygiene and most importantly – educational opportunities to get one’s self off of the streets of addiction and onto a road of personal recovery.

Coming next week is Chuck Colson’s “Angel Tree” program. A mission that loves upon children of those who have been imprisoned in America.

While the parent is doing his, or her, time, Colson’s “Angel Tree” program provides gifts, supplies and great encouragement for the children of prisoners nationwide at Christmas.

Our goal is $10,000, and we will meet it in one day!

So I ask you again…what is better, raising taxes to pay government (employed, disengaged workers) to attempt to meet these needs, or reaching the hearts of those who “have” (blessed by God) so they can loving help those who “have not”?

By personal experience, the later is easier, faster and more economical for the country. It’s the Golden Rule, “treat others the way you would want to be treated when your life is in turmoil.” The real relationship makes the difference in others’ lives.

Let me challenge you, get your family out of the self-centered, materialistic rut this season. Take a step of “reach” this Thanksgiving and Christmas season. You’ll be amazed how much better you feel, how your family is blessed and collective needs are met.

I’m a huge fan of faith based organizations; for government, for families and all of us as created individuals.

Know this, as a State Assemblyman, I will work hard to wean our state’s populace off of the tax supported government programs. I’ll encourage the process of financial allocation of government dollars (our dollars) to faith based missions in California.

Find a “win-win” situation and support it.

Lower the tax burden on California’s working citizens, remove government programs that can operated better on a non-profit, mission based organizational level, and at the same time provide a means to meet the needs of those who are hurting while encouraging the hearts of those who have been blessed beyond measure.

Conservative ideals ‘do’ include the reach toward those who are ‘down on their luck’. The truth is we have a ‘better idea’ than filtering this compassion through the ‘cold, sterile hallways’ of government programs.

Human hearts care, whereas government hallways don’t!

Congressman Darrell Issa Endorses Hogue

November 13th, 2007

Today, Im proud to announce that Congressman Darrel Issa has endorsed my campaign for State Assembly.

I worked with the Congressman during the recall of Governor Gray Davis in 2003. Congressman Issa was a “major” component to the success of the recall. He has proven himself as a powerful leader in Congress, as well as his home district in Southern California.

With this annoucement today, I have now been endorsed by Congressman John Campbell, Congressman Darrell Issa, Assemblywoman Audra Strickland, Assemblywoman Sharon Runner and People’s Advocate Director Ted Costa. All of them played a relationship role in the recall of Gray Davis.

It seems the efforts of the recall are still uncompleted…time to finish the job come June of 2008.
